We need your help to empower adult learners to reach their full potential and to raise awareness of literacy issues in our community.
Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity where you can change people’s lives and make a lasting contribution? Do you want to work with other passionate individuals and contribute your enthusiasm, skills, and time to promoting our services and breaking the stigma of low literacy? Are you ready to take on new challenges? You can make a difference by volunteering with us!
Board Members: The Board meets once a month. Members must be willing to devote a few hours each month to attending meetings and carrying out board business. You will further the work of the council and assist as needed with promotion, fundraising, event planning, recruitment, and other activities.
Tutors: This is a commitment of at least one year. No experience necessary. You will submit a criminal record check, take a free 20-hour training workshop, prepare lessons and meet with your learner at least once or twice per week.
Graphic Designer: Create engaging and professional promotional materials (such as pamphlets, poster, and web design) to advertise our services and enhance the visibility of our organization in the community, to recruit potential learners and volunteers to our program, and to increase public awareness of literacy issues.
Fundraising Coordinator: Take the lead in the development and implementation of a successful fundraising plan as well as assisting in maintaining relations with existing sources of funding. You will target new sources of funding and coordinate fundraising projects/events that will catch the imagination of the Fredericton community, ignite community support, and engage potential partners, donors, and sponsors.
Event Planner: Take the lead in planning and implementing activities/events for special occasions such as International Literacy Day, Adult Learners’ Week, and National Volunteer Week, as well as assisting with fundraising, recruitment and other activities.
Recruitment Coordinator: Take the lead in planning and implementing activities for the recruitment of tutors and learners. You will explore ways to promote our services and collaborate with other agencies in the community.
